About My John Baby
The first year, one week at a time
Last updated August 13, 2026
We started My John Baby in 2023 for a simple reason: the writing we wanted to read about the newborn weeks, sleep, feeding mostly did not exist, and what did exist was selling something.
The tone we aim for is gentle, practical, never alarmist — we assume you are intelligent, busy, and able to tell when you are being flattered.
What we cover
The site is organised into 6 sections:
- The Newborn Weeks — The first six weeks, and what is normal when nothing feels it.
- Sleep — Naps, nights, and the realistic range of what babies do.
- Feeding — Milk, weaning and the practicalities around both.
- Growing & Milestones — What changes month by month, and how wide the normal range is.
- Gear & Nursery — What you actually need, what can wait, and what never gets used.
- Looking After Parents — Recovery, exhaustion, and the household underneath the baby.
